Controversy rages over Magadheera song

Controversy rages over Magadheera song
VIZIANAGARAM: A new controversy has raged over PRP president Chiranjeevi's son Ramcharan Teja's new movie `Magadheera' over usage of a few lines
of folk singer and balladeer Vangapandu Prasada Rao in a song without his permission.

Vangapandu is livid that his 40-year-old folk song, `Em pillado eldaamostavaa... Sikakulamlo seema kondaki... Telangana Komarayya kondaki....Rayalaseemalo raalu kondaki,' has been used by film director SS Rajamouli and producer Allu Aravind in a song with vulgar picturisation without taking his consent.

In fact, Vangapadu, a native of Chinna Merangi village in Vizianagaram district, was arrested for singing the song in 1980s. Vangapandu demanded the film producer and the director to remove the lines immediately, failing which he would approach the court.

"My song was an inspiration to the revolutionary movement way back in the '80s. But it was misused and the scenes of the film song are vulgar," Vangapandu told TOI on Wednesday. He charged the producer and the director with degrading the inspirational song.

"They must apologise to the revolutionaries for misusing a great song and remove the lines from the song," Vangapandu warned.
