Magadheera song turns controversial
Ramcharan’s Magadheera starring Kajal opposite him, has landed in a controversy over the use of a tune and sonnet of a popularly admired song in a duet.
Revolutionary writer and well-known balladeer Vangapandu Prasadarao alleged that his celebrated song - Em Pillo Yeldam Vastavaa, Em pillado Yeldam Vastavaa (Oh lass, Oh lad shall we go...) was written 40 years ago, to entertain and enthuse youth to join the Naxalite (currently Moist) movement.
Vangapandu, 75, threatened to sue Allu Aravind the producer and director S.S. Rajamouli for using his sonnet and tune in the film song and misrepresent a revolutionary cause in an obscene way.
Talking to media persons at Bobbili in Vizianagaram district, he said the song was used without his consent and knowledge and shown in bad taste. He demanded immediate deletion of the song sequence from the film and also an apology from the film-makers.
